I haven't posted here much, partly because, well....I'm having trouble knowing my words are out in cyberspace for all to see. But I'm going to try to write more often, because, what the heck...it'll be good therapy for me and may help others. I'm still new to blogging then, but I'll keep trying.
So today I ran across this article. Boy Mets World Spin Off To Focus on Difficulties of Raising an Autistic Child
I actually wish this was true. Boy Meets World is getting a sequel, but this was from a satire website and I assume joking about how they would be dealing with some truly heart-breaking things. But, I wish they were. I loved Boy Meets World. I was only a couple of years older than the main characters so while I might not identify with them exactly, I at least have an fond-older-sister feeling for them. And now I am an adult with an autistic child. I would have loved to have seen a show deal with the issue in a sensitive and yet fun-loving way. It would have been even more powerful to me to see someone I felt I grew up with facing this situation too and learning to love, laugh, and teach and be taught in this wonderful, completely new world we find ourselves in.
And calling it Girl Meets World where our kids with autism are learning to "meet" the world and the world "meeting" them....just icing on the cake.
And now I must go, Sonshine is reminding me that I had "three more minutes" before he got to play a game on my computer. :)
